To me, grammar is the most difficult part of Japanese. Pronunciation seems straightforward though "r" is difficult. The vowel-consonant pattern also makes it difficult to distinguish between vocab words sometimes...Reading is also always easier for me than speaking, I think I'm more of a passive than active learner.

ReplyDeleteHey Jose...I think it's b/c I can do it in my own time, and I'm more relaxed when I read. When I practice speaking I have to worry about the topic and replying coherently....And you?
DeleteI guess I have same thought towards it. Especially the speaking part. In my mind it is clear but when it comes to transitioning it to make an audible noise it becomes more jumbled and less coherent than that was originally in my mind.

ReplyDeleteI like how you analyze the Japanese language as a learner's point of view. You mentioned the difficulty of pronouncing らりるれろ, but I am pretty sure you can do it if you speak American English. The consonant sounds almost the same as the 'tt' sound as in 'butter' and 'better'. Hope you will enjoy your Japanese class and lab!
